ESSENTIAL OILS FOR RELAXATION
The calming aromas of essential oils can cause instant relaxation and have a powerful effect on the mind and body. When you smell an essential oil, the particles is pass into the bloodstream and is distribute throughout your system. The smell of each oil triggers a specific effect. The easiest way to enjoy the calming effects of essential oils is to add them to your bath. In addition to using essential oils, you can add aromatic leaves and flower petals in your bath.
Essential oils are used to treat a wide range of symptoms and conditions including skin and scalp conditions, stress-related conditions, mood disorders, muscle and joints, circulation problems, digestion, high blood pressure, respiratory infections, wounds, and helps to tone the nervous system in conditions such as anxiety and depression. Some essential oils are prescribed for allergies, asthma, earache, colds and flu.
Some medicines properties of essential oils that are used in aromatherapy include: analgesic, antimicrobial, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, astringent, antispasmodic, expectorant, diuretic, and sedative.
There are two main ways that Essential oils can be entered into the body. One way is through the skin by giving an aromatherapy massage in which the oil which is absorbed through the pores and through hair follicles in the skin. Another way is through the nose by inhaling when taking a bath. When inhaled, essential oils come into contact with the olfactory system located in the nose and behind the eyes. Essential oils are taken directly into the blood stream and have a positive effect on blood circulation. It helps to bring oxygen and nutrients to the tissues to dispose of carbon dioxide and other waste materials.
Although there are hundreds of essential oils that are used in healing treatments and perfumes, some of the more commonly used essential oils are lavender, chamomile, peppermint, tea tree oil, eucalyptus, geranium, jasmine, rose, lemon, orange, rosemary, frankincense, and sandalwood.

BERGAMOT: The uplifting oil. Helps to bring on relaxation. Good for relaxing tight and aching muscles. Found in the peel of a bitter orange.
CLARY SAGE: The antidepressant oil. This is calming oil that promotes a peaceful state of mind and restful sleep. It improves alertness and reduces stress and tension. Found in leaves and flowers.
CHAMOMILE: The soothing oil. Used as a relaxing sedative. Also a natural anti-inflammatory with great healing properties. You can find this in freshly dried flowers.
GERANIUM: The women’s oil. Reduces stress and tension. Calming and uplifting. Comes from leaves and flowers.
JASMINE: Romantic oil. Uplifting, relaxing and a brain stimulant. Good for dry skin and helps to treat muscular aches. Found in fresh flowers.
LAVENDER:
Essential oil for the first aid kit. Have antibacterial and antiseptic properties for treating burns, cuts, scrapes, and bruises. Used for calming and soothing, and in treating depression, migraine, insomnia, nervous tension, and stress. Used from fresh flowers.
NEROLI: The mind, body and soul oil. Uplifting and calming. It has a deep tranquilizing effect and is used for treating anxiety, depression, and nervous disorders. This oil is found in fresh flowers.
ORANGE: Calming and relaxing oil. This oil has a refreshing and stimulating effect on the body while leaving you relaxed. It rejuvenates skin. Has antiseptic properties and is useful in the treatment of mouth ulcers. Comes from a fruit peel.
TEA TREE LEAVE: First aid in a bottle. This oil has a lot of properties. It can be used to treat blisters, boils, burns, rashes, mouth ulcers, insect bites, athlete’s foot, infected wounds, cold sores, warts and for a variety of other treatments.
ROSE: The beauty oil. Rose oil prevents and reduces scaring. Good for asthma and chronic bronchitis. It’s a beauty fragrance.
YLANG-YLANG: Calming and soothing. Promotes relaxation. Helps with high blood pressure and helps reduce anxiety and stress. Comes from a flower.
