Herbal Ingredients Can Give You a Nice Relaxing Sleep

Try a sleep-inducing herb bath just before bed.

A relaxing hot bath steeped with soothing sedative herbs can relieve tension and bring on feelings of calm and serenity. It puts your body and mind into a state of readiness for a night of peaceful sleep, and when you awake you feel refreshed.

Herbs contain substances including essential vitamins, minerals, and oils. When you add herbs to your bath. They are absorbed by your skin carrying their active ingredients. You also receive benefits from breathing in their calming vapors.

The plants lavender and chamomile can help you relax before you to bed. Dilute 5-8 drops of essential oil of lavender or chamomile in carrier oil and add it to your bath. Or you can make an infusion with lavender and chamomile flowers.

Linden flowers have a scent that has a gentle soothing effect that helps mental relaxation.

Hops also can have a tranquilizing effect. Make an infusion to add to the bath by steeping a handful of the flowers in hot water.

Skullcap is a medicinal bitter herb which belongs to the mint family. It does not smell good in the bathtub, but it is effective. Skullcap acts on the nervous system to promote a feeling of deep relaxation.

Valerian is known for its calming, sleep-inducing properties. Valerian acts like a tranquilizer. The best way to use it is to make an infusion using fresh valerian, which you add to your bath.

Lemon balm helps you to loosen up and unwind. It is only useful when used fresh.

Passion flower is a natural sedative that helps you to feel more serene. Add the leaves or the flowers to your bath.

Try out different tranquilizing herbs or a combination of herbs that relaxes you the best. Steep the fresh herbs in hot water and let it cool slightly and add to the bath. You can also wrap them in a cheesecloth or sachet and hang it from the faucet, so that the hot water runs through it.

Crawl into bed and listen to some ambient music, and now you are ready to drift off to a nice peaceful and relaxing sleep.
