Relax and Rejuvenate Yourself with a Seaweed Bath

Seaweed baths are one of the most relaxing experiences you can give yourself at home. It is relaxing, therapeutic, and natural. Treat yourself to a nice rejuvenating bath and imagine like you are floating in an amber tinted sea of tranquility.

What is a Seaweed Bath?

A Seaweed bath is a bath full of hot sea water with seaweed added and helps to detoxify the body. The amber tint in the water is caused by the extraction of iodine from the seaweed, one of nature’s richest sources of a therapeutic element.

Seaweed bath is also called Thalassotherapy, which is the practice of using seaweed and sea water to treat a variety of health conditions. Thalassotherapy treatments include seaweed wraps, mud baths, marine algae baths, and seawater sprays and showers. Seaweed treatments are detoxifying, so always make sure you drink plenty of spring water afterwards to continue the process and to help rehydrate your body.

You can buy fresh seaweed from major health food stores and Japanese delicatessens. You can also get the ready-to-use dried powders and bath sachets.

Benefits of Seaweed Baths:

Seaweed baths have been used to provide relief from the symptoms of arthritis, rheumatism, and muscular pains. They also aid in weight loss through steaming and detuning of your body and help to reduce cellulite. Also use to reduce tension and moisturize your skin. The therapeutic power of the seaweed baths comes from the vitamins, minerals, and trace elements that are naturally in the seaweed and seawater.

To Prepare Your Seaweed Bath:

Place your seaweed in a muslin bag. Boil your water in a large pot, and place your bag of seaweed in the water. Turn off the stove and let it set for about 30 minutes. Add the whole bag to your hot bath water. If you are using fresh seaweed, just add the whole seaweed to the bathtub. Remove it before you drain your tub. Remember to drink plenty of water afterwards.

So if you just simply want to relax and pamper yourself, a Seaweed Bath could be just what you need.
